Amazon product image & video specs: the 2026 checklist
Everything Amazon wants on your listing — and the things that quietly get it rejected.
A shopper gives your Amazon listing about three seconds before they swipe on. In those seconds, your images and video do almost all the selling — so it pays to get them exactly right, the first time. Here's the 2026 checklist we shoot to.
The main image (the one that wins the click)
This is the image that shows in search results, so Amazon is strictest here. Get it wrong and the listing can be suppressed.
- Pure white background — RGB 255, 255, 255. Not off-white, not light grey.
- Product fills ~85% of the frame.
- 1000px or more on the longest side, so listing zoom works.
- No text, logos, watermarks, badges, props or borders — just the product.
- A real photograph of the actual product (no renders or illustrations for most categories).
The gallery (where you actually convince)
You typically get six to nine slots. The main image clears the rules; the rest do the persuading. We plan them as a sequence:
- Clean angles — front, back, side, top.
- Scale — the product in hand or next to a familiar object.
- In use — the product doing its job.
- Infographics — key features and dimensions called out.
- What's in the box — sets expectations and cuts returns.
A+ Content and Premium A+
If you're Brand Registered, A+ Content replaces the plain description with image-and-text modules — comparison charts, lifestyle banners, and video. Premium A+ adds bigger modules and interactive elements. We shoot and size assets to those module dimensions so the page looks built, not bolted together.
Video specs
Listing video sits in the image carousel and on the detail page, and it's the closest a buyer gets to holding the product.
- MP4 or MOV, 1080p or higher.
- Keep it tight — 15 to 60 seconds. Show the product working in the first few.
- No pricing, contact details or external URLs — those get it rejected.
- Add captions; most people watch on mute.
Why listings get rejected
The usual culprits: an off-white or textured background, text or a logo sneaking onto the main image, resolution under 1000px so zoom won't trigger, a watermark, or claims and links in the video. Almost all of it is avoidable with a shot list and a spec-check before upload.
Shoot to the spec once, and your listing goes live without the back-and-forth.
The quick checklist
- Main image: pure white, 85% fill, 1000px+, nothing but the product.
- Gallery: angles, scale, in-use, infographic, in-the-box.
- A+ / Premium A+ assets sized to the modules.
- Video: MP4, 1080p+, 15–60s, captioned, no claims or links.
- Everything spec-checked before it goes near the upload button.
